REMOVAL OF PIGMENTED LESIONS - HOW IT WORKS
In the case of pigmented lesions, the target for the laser light action is melanin which is the natural pigment that determines the color of skin, and hair. During the laser treatment the light energy is absorbed by the brown/black pigment and converted into heat, raising the temperature of the pigmented cells and causing their ablation. Multiple (3 to 4) treatments may be necessary to obtain best results. The laser treatments are spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart. Post-treatment a daily application of Aquaphor ointment and sunblock (i.e., MDSolar Sciences) is recommended for at least two weeks. After desired result is reached a yearly treatment is recommended to maintain a clear healthy skin.
